Faith in Action

Living as the light of the world through faith and service

Community Outreach Programs

Serving Low Income Seniors (mission birthed during pandemic). Bible Study/Prayer Support Group and Pot Blessing on Wednesday evenings. Help us to serve and honor isolated seniors! We regularly visit and pray for these neighbors with our Big Happy Poodles who serve as therapy dogs and provide comic relief. Recently, 3 enthusiastic seniors contacted management to get permission to hold a Bible study in their lounge. So, we put out 86 flyers and some joined the group! Thankful to residents for donations of dog food and for help with dog walking! Donations appreciated such as: grocery carts, gift cards, walkers, toiletries and clothes. Volunteers needed for cleaning apartments monthly and help with transportation.

Restoring Wandering Believers
Many Christians have shifted churches or left the local church during the pandemic. Inspired by Jesus’ love and compassion for the lost, we are committed to seeking out those who are wandering, just as He would leave the 99 to find the one lost sheep (Matthew 18:12). God loves all His children and desires intimate fellowship with each one, and we aim to do the same.

Serving Mentally ill or Addicted persons (mission birthed in April 2021 in partnership with volunteers of Apostolic Christian Church, Kitchener) Fresh groceries are purchased for about 20 residents monthly- funded by Calvary Assembly. Light lunch donated by Homeschool moms and Local seniors for Mondays Bible Study/Prayer Support Group. Congratulations to individuals who were Baptized by immersion at Soper Park this year! Thankful for the participation of Christians from various churches who are committed to putting their faith to action!

Memorial Services/Hospital and Hospice Services Our team steps in to provide memorial services in a modest setting for sudden deaths bringing Hope, Comfort and Closure to friends and family. We also minister to those in hospital or in hospice.

Friendship Evangelism Our Big Happy Poodles serve as great conversation starters throughout the day. Preceded by prayer, God’s Spirit leads us to individuals who are open to a conversation about their personal story. We are happy to pray for individual needs no matter where they are in their faith journey. As God leads, we aim to encourage them with eternal hope and the Good News of Jesus Christ. Romans 10:14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

Community Outreach

Light of the World Community Outreach
Established in 2003, Light of the World Community Outreach (formerly Intermediate Christian Home) provides private rooms and support to individuals facing homelessness or at risk due to financial hardships, family conflict, and illness. Residents sign a Shared Living Agreement, and coaching is offered to help integrate them with community resources, volunteer or job opportunities, and daily activities. All those we serve have the opportunity to deepen their faith in Jesus Christ through in-house group studies and attendance at a local church. Our goal is for them to experience the unconditional LOVE of God, His forgiveness, and encouragement through the church community and God's Word. God is Love (1 John 4:16).

Community Outreach
Since the spring of 2021, Light of the World Community Outreach has partnered with The Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarene) to reach out to 20-25 low-income households. Our teams deliver fresh groceries, meet practical needs, and offer prayer support. We also serve people living on the streets, in cars, or in tent communities. Some of our new friends have joined us in attending local churches, while others are serving alongside us in various ministry areas. We give God the glory for the growth of our mission!

Robert Kerr Manor (April 2021-Present)
With God’s strength, our team reached out to residents of a local apartment building monitored by security due to aggressive behavior. Initially, residents met us in the parking lot, sometimes with anger. As trust was built, we prayed for their individual needs, and over time, they began to experience God's presence through answered prayer. By God's grace, we were invited into the building’s lounge to continue our work, and now we are leading an interactive Bible study with 17-20 attendees.

Training and Discipleship through Cell Groups (2023)
We hold weekly Bible studies at our home, 148 Grand Ave. S., Cambridge. We encourage volunteers, residents, and individuals from all areas of our ministry to connect with local churches, which offer many opportunities for fellowship with other believers.
